Many people blame the mind for all suffering. But the mind is only a mirror. It simply reflects the energy and atmosphere around it. Just like air keeps changing, the mind also keeps absorbing what surrounds it. That is why the mind is never fully free. Even divine beings like Lord Krishna and Lord Rama faced sorrow when the atmosphere became heavy. Real freedom does not come by controlling the mind. It comes by rising above it and focusing on the eternal soul.

The Soul Is Higher Than the Mind
Sanatan Dharma explains a clear order of the self.

      • The body is ruled by the mind.

      • The mind is ruled by the intellect.

      • The intellect is ruled by the soul.

The soul alone is eternal and free. It is never disturbed by thoughts or emotions. When a person shifts attention from body and mind toward the soul, life becomes lighter. Free will, guided by wisdom, becomes stronger than the restless mind. This is the path to true liberation.

    The Bond of Attachment

There are many real-life stories that show how attachment binds the soul. One example is of a mother who lost her young son and infant grandchild in an accident. She was heartbroken and later claimed she could hear her son’s voice. Within days, she too passed away, saying she was going to join him.

This shows how deep attachment (moha) works. Even after the body dies, such desires can hold the soul in bondage, keeping it from peace. Moha does not exist in the pure soul but in the mind and intellect. If not released, it continues even beyond death.

The Guidance of a True Guru

Here the role of a guru becomes most important. A true guru awakens the disciple with the knowledge of Brahman, reminding them: “You are not just a small being; you are Brahman itself.”

When this truth takes root in the heart, free will begins to align with higher wisdom. Liberation starts from this point. The Vedas, the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita all declare the same truth: You are not separate from Brahman—you are Brahman.

When this wisdom is not only understood by the mind but felt deeply in consciousness, fear and suffering lose all power.

    Daily Practice for Liberation

Freedom comes with practice. Do not fight with negative thoughts. Let them pass like clouds in the sky. Stay aware, watch yourself without judgment, and do not cling to emotions. Avoid blaming or condemning others, because judgment only creates more attachment. Even the sharpest intellect can mislead. Real freedom comes only from experiencing the soul directly.

The Bhagavad Gita teaches this eternal truth:

    “न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे” (na hanyate hanyamāne śharīre)
“The soul is never destroyed when the body is destroyed.”

This wisdom gives great strength. It shows that the soul cannot be touched by birth, death, pain, or loss. It is eternal, whole, and indestructible. Knowing this truth removes fear and gives real peace.

Conclusion: You Are the Eternal Soul

The mind is restless, the body is temporary, but the soul is timeless. To realize this truth is to attain liberation. True freedom begins when you recognize yourself as the eternal soul, beyond birth and death.
